Community Transitions Program

The Community Transition program has funded cost-shared proposals that will help diversify the local economy and produce tangible economic benefits. The Province of Ontario has provided $15 million to assist tobacco-growing communities in the counties of Norfolk, Elgin, Oxford and Brant.

The Community Transition Program was a $15 million fund to support economic diversification projects in the tobacco growing communities of Brant, Elgin, Norfolk, and Oxford counties.

Cost shared proposals that helped to diversify the local economy and create tangible economic benefits were eligible for up to $1 million in funding

The CTP fund placed priority in supporting projects in the following three areas:

  1. sustainable, diversified economy
  2. community capacity for growth
  3. human capacity for change

The Community Transition Program was officially completed as of March 31, 2009
